Kenya - Ndundu 'Thiririka' AB

We have not had a Kenyan in the Roastery for some time and this years harvest really stood out for us and so we thought we should grab a bag or two! This Midharvest AB lot was produced by numerous small holder farmers. Ndundu Coffee Factory (as washing stations / wet mills are called in Kenya). Ndundu itself is well known for producing exceptionally high quality coffee. Processing adheres to quality driven methods and all coffee cherries are hand picked and delivered to the mill the same day where they then undergo meticulous sorting. They even have an especially appointed 'Cherry Clark' during harvest Season who keeps meticulous records of how much coffee each producer delivers on any given day (thus how much payment is due once the coffee has sold) Any rejected coffee will have to be taken home again and the farmer will need to find a place to dry it (often a tarp in the yard) to be delivered at the end of the season only as low quality Mbuni natural process coffee that earns a very low price. Thus the farmer members are incentivised to only pick and deliver the ripest cherry that they can.
