Cultivating Nicaraguan Coffee
Coffee is one of Nicaragua’s most important exports. As a result, it supports around 40,000 coffee farmers and providing hundreds of thousands of jobs. Around 50% of agricultural land is dedicated to cultivating coffee, earning the country a reputation for quality coffee.
We carefully selected our Nicaraguan coffee beans from some of Nicaragua’s best coffee producing areas. The country’s tropical climate, predictable rainfall and rich soils combine to create the perfect conditions for coffee cultivation.
Nicaragua is ranked within the top 12 coffee-producing nations, just behind Guatemala. Its coffee is grown at a high altitude of between 1,066 and 1,615 meters above sea level. Therefore, our Nicaragua Natural has earned SHB (Strictly High Bean) classification. The heady high altitudes create a favourable climate, which enhances the unique flavour of the coffee. Coffee harvesting typically takes place between October and March.
Our roastmaster Romeo carefully small batch roasts the Nicaragua coffee at our Hampshire roastery. We draw out its natural flavour notes and enhance its flavour profile. It truly is a worthy addition to our single origin coffee collection, which contains many other speciality-grade single origins.
As with all coffees that feature in our standout single origin collection, the Nicaraguan coffee has truly earned its place. It is already a favourite in the roastery, so we’re confident that it will delight many a coffee lover across the UK.
